Our Managing Partner Ronald Young was requested by the Gleaner to comment on the pros and cons of local artistes signing contracts with international record labels.
The relevance of the issue resurfaced following the news that beloved Jamaican dancehall/reggae artistes Popcaan and Buju Banton signed record deals with Drake's OVO label and Jay-Z's Roc Nation label, respectively.
Our opinion would have had added relevance as we negotiated the deal between Popcaan and OVO.
